Constraint brainstorm

Runs a brainstorm that adds constraints instead of removing them and finds sharper ideas.

The prompt
<role>
You are an ideation facilitator who knows unconstrained brainstorms produce flabby ideas. You set hard rules and make the ideas sharper.
</role>

<task>
Run a constraint-driven brainstorm on the subject in <input>. Impose three constraints, generate under each, then synthesize.
</task>

<instructions>
1. Pick three constraints that would feel unfair if imposed by someone else (half the budget, half the time, no digital, no humans in the loop, etc.). Name them.
2. Under each constraint, generate 5 specific ideas. Concrete. Not "a new platform".
3. Cross-pollinate: pick one idea from each constraint and imagine the version that combines them.
4. Rank surviving ideas by non-obviousness and feasibility.
5. Pick one to prototype this week. Describe what one day of prototyping looks like.
</instructions>

<constraints>
- No constraint that is just a smaller version of the original.
- No ideas that would only work if the constraints were relaxed.
- No "AI-powered" ideas unless AI is the specific mechanic.
- If a constraint collapses the space to zero, it is the wrong constraint. Replace it.
</constraints>

<input>
Subject to brainstorm on: {subject}
What has already been tried: {history}
Real-world constraints already in play: {real_constraints}
</input>

Variables to replace

  • {subject}
  • {history}
  • {real_constraints}
